“Where to begin? It feels like Herman and I have known each other our whole lives…..
Unwilling, I met my husband through a friend in 2018, to put it simply, Herman was the typical “Jock” looking guy, definitely attractive, but it wasn’t the love at first sight experience, at least not until I got to know him. Then he sweeping off feet came, and to sum it up ever since we have cherished our mad all-consuming love.
By the end of 2019 we promised ourselves to each other and got engaged, we set out our date for our fairytale wedding. But life happens when you’re making plans-COVID-

Our lives were swept up in the tornado that was and is the pandemic- my job suffered and we have had to endure tremendous obstacles.
So with the realization that our dream fairytale wedding wouldn’t be an option, we decided to make the call and weigh our options, leaving postponing the wedding in the rearview mirror we decided to join our souls and get MARRIED.

With just our parents present, our wedding day took place in our Pastor’s garden. Being the unconventional woman I am along with the circumstances I got married in a red dress, saying this, getting married to the love of my life, everything felt magical, except being able to look back at our wedding photos and wishing for that gorgeous white gown every bride dreams about from a young age. The exceptional feeling everyone talks about when you say “yes to the dress” The fantasy almost unreal moment you dream about.

Going through all of this I decided to start my journey and fulfil my younger self’s dream of having the dress she has dreamt about. And so the Lord guided me to Nadene from New Romantics. After hearing our story she designed the perfect dress for my fairytale, never hesitate to bring to life my vision. I would finally have my dream wedding photoshoot.

We had one fitting and measurements were given via Whatsapp. To no surprise, the dress fitted perfectly, because she is a miracle worker.

And what a ball it was…. All our friends and family near and far supported our ideas and it was phenomenal. From flowers, makeup, photographer, venue…..
It truly was perfect, no stress of Covid cramping our style, no rush, no stress, we were just two very in love normal people in love.
We had the time of our lives!!!! I wouldn’t change a thing.

My greatest advice for any bride is that if you ever felt like you want to do things differently- DO IT
There is no budget too small to make your wildest dreams come true. Just think outside the box.
